John Young was born in Scotland 1833. As a nine year old boy John sailed with his parents, William & Margaret Young and two sisters aboard the "Thomas Sparks".
They stopped for a year in Wellington, New Zealand and then in 1844 arrived in Launceston, Tasmania. Read more about the journey at William & Margaret Young

John Young married Sarah Spence in Launceston 1859 and had 12 children.
